Just Another Saturday

Went to the movies today.  We saw Maleficent - the movie starring Angelina Jolie. Afterwards we visited a friend, ate dinner at a nearby Turkish Kebab place, and came home and played a game of chocolate Scrabble.

Here are the the trails of the day:
Waiting for the U-Bahn to take us to the theater.

All Aboard!

on the train...

looking for the cinema...

cinema found...called CineStar (don't think about it too much).

Seated and staring at the curtain.

Us (starting to get a little bored waiting for the movie to start).

waiting for the movie...

Ivan the photo bomber!

When's it going to start?

Nevermind...let's do theater tricks!

What Jay would look like if he had Emily's hair.

counting our piggies all in a row...man are we bored!

What happens when your hands wait too long...

I think the movie is starting now!
The fireworks are starting - yeah!

No more waiting.

After the movie, riding the train to see a friend.

Finally playing Chocolate Scrabble.

Hint: it's kind of a dud (sorry Jay), but we made it fun anyway.

This is a Turkish Doner.

more Turkish delight

Waiting for the food to arrive (which it did - see above :o)
Nice day out with the family.

German Playground

While a friend of mine took her other (just as darling!) son to an appointment, I got to watch Markus.  He's so cute!  He is also in my nursery class at church :o)

We went to this playground one day while I was watching him:

Big crocodile swing (no need to worry about not having enough swing seats to go around ;o)

Cabin cubby for hours of fun!!
Get a good workout on this one!

Yes, you need your helmet on!

Ah....so there are the other children.  They've been captured by the wagon lady.

More good leg work....

Unfortunately, this one defies description...I still don't get what it's supposed to do, but Markus seems to like it anyway.

Our Refined Young Women

What happens when you mix a group of awesome young women and fun leaders?  You get the spitting game!  Viva Young Women!

Cheeks full, waiting for the first one to laugh...

Don't knock it 'til you've tried it! Hey, it's fun!

I Spy (on a walk with Jet)

Can you see a beautiful bird in any of the following pictures?

There it is!!

Happy Father's Day!

The big day came.  We celebrated with our wonderful "Dad."  Here are a few pictures for your enjoyment :o)

Opening gifts from us.

This is "chocolate" Scrabble.  The pieces are edible.

Almost finished Father's Day cheesecake - it's missing the chocolate cream icing on top.  It is Chocolate Raspberry Truffle.

Boyscouts and the Dentist

Jay and Ivan are on their way to a Boyscout meeting this morning.  I thought they looked so great in their colorful uniforms.  I had to take a picture:

Yesterday Jay went to the dentist to have the rest of the deep cleaning done.  He had a deep clean a few weeks ago on half his teeth.  It turns out he had a tooth extraction instead.

His poor face is swollen and sore.  He has been having problems with his jaw swelling and off and on pain since December.  There was a lot of infection and bone damage around the tooth that was pulled.  Hopefully this will take care of the problems he has been having.  Meanwhile, he will have to wait 4 months to have the rest of his teeth cleaned.

Recycling the German Way

Germans take recycling very seriously!  There is a can for each type of recycled material inside the house and out on the street.  Take a look, a picture is worth a thousand words!
These grey cans fit under the kitchen sink.  The white can is for non-recycle stuff (as you already guessed :o)

Ivan is taking out the to-be-recycled garbage...

Musical Fireside

Our ward hosted a musical fireside last night.  It was really nice.  There was such a variety of performances from classical piano pieces to Michael Jackson songs and opera.  We really enjoyed it!  Jay, Emily and Ivan each played a song on the piano.

Emily playing Mozart Fantasy in D minor.

Ivan played something he composed.   It's called Glory.

Jay played Beethoven Moonlight Sonata.

21 Years Ago Today

21 years ago today, a wonderful young man took me by the hand.
We went to a very special place.  We committed to be best friends forever.
Yep, we got married.

We were blessed with loving families.  They shared our special day with us:
Bride's Family

Groom's Family

Groom's Father

Groom's Mother

Bride's Mother and Father

Bride's beautiful niece.  (An heirloom quilt made by bride's maternal grandmother in background.)

Groom's beautiful mother and sister.

That was then, this is now....

What happened!!!??
Just kidding, I'm sure in 21 more years we'll look at this picture of us today - taken as we were leaving the Italian restaurant where we had our celebratory anniversary lunch - and say, "Wow! look how young we looked."  I am looking forward to 21 more fantastic years with my best friend!
