London Trip: Part 2, Cardiff Wales

When we drove off the ferry near London, we drove for almost 5 hours.  This is how long it took us to drive in pitch blackness on the "wrong" side of the road in pouring rain (the only time it rained on our trip) to our first adventure.

Our first destination was Cardiff, Wales.  There were two reasons to make this trip.  The first one being that we were going to see the Dr. Who Experience and the second reason is because Jay has Welsh ancestory. I guess I can't think of anything more reasonable than those two reasons, can you?

This no smoking sign was in the lobby of our hotel.  I wanted to show you what the written Welsh language looks like (strange, eh?).

Ivan dressed the following morning for our excursion to the Dr. Who Experience.  He really does look like a Dr. Who!

This is our humble abode while we were in Wales.  We stayed at this hotel two nights.

Another view of our home away from home.

Here we are, on our way to find the Dr. Who Experience.

The "heart" of Cardiff is near the water.

Cute little cottage for the Lock Keepers.

and...voila! here is the cute lock.

We have arrived at our destination.

They are getting their sonic screwdrivers ready.

This was a building I thought was photogenic :o)

Such a heavenly view and the clouds were stunning that day.  You just may get tired of my cloud pictures.

This is a police box which has been turned into a tardis (time and relative dimensions in space).  Did you know it is bigger on the inside?

Viva Emily!

Now begins my cloud pictures.  Every time I looked at the sky it took my breath away...so gorgeous!

clouds, clouds and....

more clouds.

The red building is the National Assembly for Wales.

See? That's what the sign says.

The sun is setting and we are still enjoying our stroll at the pier.

Those colorful pillars are part of Roald Dahl's Place.  It is a place for children to play.  There was a soccer game happening earlier.

Check out the language - again.  This large building is the city cultural center.  At the time they even had The Lion King production taking place.  Jay and Emily returned later that evening for a free jazz concert.

What do you think?  Is this my name?  I'm not sure, but it does look like it.  Who would have thought.  A hotel in Wales named after me ;o)

The proud owner of.........a name (he he).

Still in "downtown" Cardiff.  They still have a little leftover Christmas spirit.  A nice touch.

Santa has gone home now, but his nutcracker soldier dutifully guards his Cardiff shack.
